This free magic trick is called Coin-cidental.

This is a great mental coin effect you can do anywhere.

The effect of this free magic trick is :

From a small envelope, you remove a penny, a 5p and a 10p. You ask a spectator to choose one.
He says, "The penny!"

You say, "Great! Turn over the envelope!"

He does, and on the envelope is written, "I just knew you would choose the penny!"

To perform this free magic trick You Need:

A small envelope
A penny A 5p A 10p
Two small pieces of paper
A pen
Double-stick tape or paste Scissors
(Of course, you can substitute any three coins you wish!)

To prepare this free magic trick:

On the front of the envelope (the side without the seam), write "I just knew you would choose the penny!" in ink.

Then, take the small paper and cut it to about 3" x 3" square.
Write on it, "I just knew you would choose the 5p!" Fold it into quarters and put it into the envelope.

Lastly, on the back of the 10p, paste or tape a small piece of paper, that you've cut to the size of the 10p, onto the back of the 10p. On the paper, you would have written, "I knew you would choose me!"

To Perform this magic trick:

Take out the envelope — writing-side down, so no one can see the prediction.

Remove the three coins, being careful not to (a) expose the paper inside the envelope and (b) expose the prediction on the reverse side of the quarter.

Say, "Because I am a good judge of people, I can predict certain actions. For instance, with these three coins, I can predict certain outcomes."

Ask the spectator to point to one coin.

Now... there are three outcomes to this effect:

If he points to the penny, you say, "Ah! I knew it...!" You now gather up the three coins and at the same time say, "Turn over the envelope!" Deposit the coins in your pocket and pocket the envelope. (The prediction reads, "I just knew you would choose the penny!")

If he points to the 5p, you say, "Ah! I knew it...!" You reach into the envelope (without turning it over!) and pull out the folded prediction. Say, "Read this!" While he reads the paper, you gather up the three coins, dropping them into the envelope and pocket the envelope. (The prediction reads, "I just knew you would choose the 5p!")

If he points to the 10p, you say, "Ah! I knew it...! Please turn over the 10p!" (The prediction reads, "I knew you would choose me!") Then, just gather up the coins and drop them into the envelope which goes into your pocket.

A very nice mental magic trick that's extremely easy to do!

A Number Trick

This is a very simple free magic trick that is very effective and can be done anywhere and can also be incorporated into other tricks.

The Trick: You write down your "prediction". Using some number calculations, the spectator arrives at the number 1,089. Your prediction and their number matches!

The Secret: of this free magic trick:

All you need for this free magic trick is a piece of paper and something to write with.Sometimes it is useful to have a calculator just in case someone needs some help with their addition and subtraction!!

Just jot down the number "1,089" on the paper, fold it up and drop it on the table in plain view.If you want write 'PREDICTION' on the outside if you want.

The Method of this free magic trick is very easy.
Give the spectator a piece of paper and a pencil. Tell them to write near the top of the paper a three-digit number, where all the numbers are different. Example: 289 or 302, not 303 or 555, etc. They must all be different. (It doesn't work if all the numbers are the same or if the number is symmetrical like 202.)

Tell them to reverse the three-digit number and if it is a larger number than the original one, to put it above the original number. If it is a smaller value, ask them to write it below the original number.
Tell them to subtract the smaller value from the larger value.

The next part is important: Ask them if the resulting number is a two- or three-digit number. If it's a two-digit number, you know that it's 99. But, just tell them to put a zero in front of the two-digit number. If the result is a three-digit number, just continue.

Tell them to reverse the digits of the resulting number and add both three-digit numbers together.
The result will always be 1,089.

This Free Magic Trick is called 'The Next Card is Yours'.

This is very simple but effective magic trick.

The effect of this free magic trick is as follows: - The spectator chooses any card and agrees to bet and they think they are sure to win! You say that you will turn over each card and find their selected card. You turn over a number of cards going past their chosen selection and then reiterate the bet. Since you have gone past their card they believe you have done the trick wrong. You place one card down and tell them that the next card you turn over will be theirs. They accept the bet but you manage to turn over their card as the next card much to their surprise and your enjoyment.

The secret of this Free Magic Trick is as follows: - Ask the spectator to cut the cards anywhere and hand the other half to you. (At this point you take a look at the bottom card on that pile you have.) You can avoid the spectator handing you half the deck by getting a glimpse of the bottom card as you take them out of the card box or as you just play with them. If you use one of the last two methods you will now have two halves cut side by side on the table.

Ask the spectator to take a look at and remember the card on top of the pile that they cut too. Tell them to put their card back on the top of their pile and you put your half (the other half) with the card you remembered still on the bottom and set it on top of that pile. Now take the deck face down in your hand and give the cards one straight cut. Start to turn over cards face up onto the table one by one. Once you see your card, the next card will be theirs. Don't do anything. Just keep on dealing about 3-4 cards on top of that one. Now stop, put the next card face down on the table and say, "The next card I turnover will be yours, will you accept the bet?" They think you have gone wrong, as they have already seen their card go by. Now what you do is simply reach into the pile and turn their card face down and say "I told you the next card I turned over would be your".

Are you thinking of hiring a magician? There are various types of magic and magicians. Most magicians now specialise in a few areas of magic although some perform only one type.

Here is a general guide of what types of magician are available for a predominately adult audience although a good magician will take you back to being a child.

Close-up magic/ strolling / mix and mingle/ table magic can often be seen at cocktail parties, corporate events, banquets, wedding receptions and generally any party event where the magician mingles amongst the guests performing tricks and inter acting with guests. This is ideal for a reception and then when guests are seated at their tables and enjoying the meal.

Cabaret magic is a great way for a large or small audience to see some bigger or more involved magic tricks. Cabaret magic is suitable for most events but is most popular as an after dinner entertainment. Sometimes the close up magician will double up and also perform the cabaret. If you are looking for larger, flashy magic then it is ideal to hire an illusionist. Cabaret magic acts last between 20 and 40 minutes and normally perform for audiences of 20 to 600 however their are two rules that should be noted. The magician should be able to be seen and heard by everyone. Bear this in mind if booking after dinner entertainment in a hotel conference room. If you have lots of non English speaking guests you may prefer to have a silent magic act either manipulation or illusion however a comedy magician always plays well for an English speaking audience.

This free magic trick is called A Simple Trick The effect of this free magic trick is: You ask the spectator to shuffle a deck of cards.You then ask him to name any two cards (just the name of the card, without the suit). After the spectator names two cards, you put your hand on the deck of cards, and concentrate hard on it. After a minute or so, you ask the spectator to turn over the deck of cards and fan through it. Astonishingly, the cards that he names are right next to each other. For this free magic trick you need: A deck of cards . To perform this free magic trick you really don't do anything!The only thing you have to do for this trick is to act like you are really concentrating very hard on the cards when you put your hand on them. This trick simply works! All by itself! This trick works by probability. When the spectator names two cards (remember to tell him not to name the suit), let's say Ace and Ten, he is really naming four cards of each kind since the suit is not specified. The theory is that out of those eight cards (Ace of Spades, Ace of Hearts, Ace of Clubs, Ace of Diamonds, Ten of Spades, Ten of Hearts, Ten of Clubs, Ten of Diamonds), at least one of the Aces in the deck will be next to one of the Tens. If you don't believe this give it a try! About 10% of the time, there may be a card between the Ace and the Ten. If that happens, simply tell the spectator that you are not concentrating hard enough. When you repeat the trick, it will work. You can never find a trick that's easier than this one! This Free Magic Trick is called Reversed Card.

The effect of this Free Magic Trick is as follows:

You can use any packet of cards for this trick.
First ask a spectator to shuffle the pack and cut it into 2 piles. Then ask them to select one of the piles and you take the other. Turn your back to the spectator and ask them to select a card from the half of the pack that they are holding and to rememberit.Request that they then replace it on top of their pile of cards.

Turn round and place your half pack on top of theirs. Give the spectator the complete pack to hold behind their back.

Instruct them to take the bottom card and insert it somewhere near the top of the pack, the top card and insert it somewhere near the bottom of the pack and then finally, to take the top card, reverse it and place it somewhere near the centre. The spectator should then give the cards back to you. When the cards are spread out on the table, the card which they reversed will be next to (ie. to the left of) the card they selected.

This is the secret of this free magic trick.

After dividing the pack,turn your back to the spectactor, allowing them to select a card out of your view. At this time you take the opportunity to reverse (ie. turn face up) the bottom and second from top cards in your pile. When you place your pile of cards on top of the spectator's the trick is set and just needs to be followed as detailed above.

Penn and Teller make their own brand of magic six nights a week at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Iconoclasts to the bone, Penn is tall and verbose, Teller, diminutive and silent. Together they are known as the Bad Boys of Magic. Recently, I had the unique, slightly unnerving pleasure of seeing the internationally famous duo perform live at the Samba Room, the showroom created especially for them at the Rio. It's 8:30 p.m. and the show is scheduled to begin at nine. Hot jazz is being played from stage left. There is no curtain. The stage is awash in a red hue over a bright high gloss red and black checkerboard floor with a thin red frame and Penn and Teller spelled out in flame red against a black backdrop. Audience members are trooping on stage, taking pictures in front of two large empty boxes, one Plexiglas, the other wood. "Feel free to open them up and see what they're made of ? but please, for your own safety, do not try to get inside one of the boxes." It's the pianist speaking to the audience. Mike Jones, as he will later be introduced, is playing jazz on a baby grand Kawai piano while someone wearing a hat, who looks suspiciously like Penn Gillette, is standing next to him playing the bass. I take Jones' invitation and venture up on stage. What a heady feeling. How much fun is this to stand on the very stage where magic is about to happen? Like my fellow audience members I lift the lid of the Plexiglas box and it seems to be nothing more nor less than it appears. The wooden box is heavy and well constructed. There are no visible clues. "I'm going to play one more very fast song giving you time to carelessly run on stage and look at the two boxes that will be used in the box escape challenge tonight." The last group hurries on stage to investigate the props, and to capture the memory on their digital cameras. Penn and Teller tickets OnlineNine o'clock rolls around and every seat looks occupied. "That's Jonesy ? our friend ? Penn tells the audience as he and Teller burst onto the stage. "This is not your typical Las Vegas show!" he boasts. "Teller and I write our own stuff. We've been doing magic together for thirty years." Penn and Teller are wearing matching English cut suits with vests, crisp white shirts, and beautiful but unmatched silk ties. Penn sports comfy black shoes, Teller, spats. Aside from the obvious difference in their sizes and personalities, they appear to be benign, well-dressed magicians. Penn plays the bass letting us know he was on stage studying us pre-show, and Teller with his cherubic smile plays the vibes. Each performer has his own bag of tricks. Penn is the narrator, taking us through the behind-the-scenes machinations of two magic tricks that we have all seen a hundred times. Demystifying one of the ways magicians make a person disappear and reappear, as well as how they separate them from their limbs ? feet dangling or hands motioning from a small box ? and then "ABRACADABRA" ? the body is whole again, is fascinating. Revealing the secret of the box escape trick is no less surprising than an informant whispering the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden to Tom Brokaw on the six o'clock news. The revelation is a gift and the audience is theirs. Teller searches the crowd for a volunteer. He latches onto a gray-haired lady who he helps on stage. Without speaking he presents a fish bowl and proceeds to make live gold fish appear along with coins. It's an enjoyable, Chaplinesque segment. Penn, who is a master juggler, begins by juggling torches. Once he ignites them the danger and excitement is amplified. But he's just getting started. Not only does he juggle fire, he juggles broken glass bottles. Mesmerizing best describes Penn's juggling. "We've only done one bit where Teller talks," Penn tells the audience as he introduces his little partner who is wearing a green rubber suit, yellow shoes, and a hard hat and pushing a loud wood chipper stage center. Naturally Teller's voice doesn't carry over the loud gnawing machine. He performs a trick with a live rabbit that defies imagination. Extreme tricks are softened by humor and musical interludes. One of Penn's most vivid segments is a romantic couch setting with a beautiful woman. This is a blast of fire that you will never forget. The audience is never bored. Perform this Free Magic Trick is as follows:

Remove 25 cards from the pack and allow a spectator to shuffle and cut the cards as many times as they want.Lay the 25 cards out in 5 rows of 5 cards face upwards from left to right in neat rows following a sort of grid pattern.
Ask the spectator to think of any one of the cards in any row and to tell you which row their card is located in. When this card is revealed to you take note the card at the left hand end of the row. Take up the cards, beginning first at the last or right hand card of the bottom line, placing it on the face of the card immediately above it and then place these 2 cards on top of the card immediately above, and so on up to the top.

Do this with each of the rows in turn and you should be left with 5 piles of cards on what was the top row.

Collect up the cards, placing the 5th (right hand) pile on top of the 4th, then this stack on top of the 3rd, then on top of the 2nd, etc, until you're left with a single stack of cards.
Once again, keeping the cards face up, deal them into another 5 horizontal rows as before. Ask the spectator to tell you once again which row their card is located in. When they tell you, look along the top or the bottom row for the card which you noted earlier that was first in the row they had indicated. Above it or below in the row to which they now point, is the card which they originally thought of.

The Effect of this Free Magic Trick is 12 cards are placed on to a table. You can use any red and black cards from the deck.Lay the cards out in the pattern shown below.Ask someone to secretly pick any BLACK card. You then request them to make several secret random moves, and you are then able to tell them which card they have moved to.

The Secret of this Free Magic Trick is as follows:

Lay the cards out as shown below. Ask an audience member to pick any Black card. Ask them then move UP or DOWN to the nearest RED card from the card they have picked. Next, tell them to move LEFT or RIGHT to the nearest BLACK card. Next, tell them to move DIAGONALLY To the Nearest RED card. Finally, tell them to move UP or DOWN to the nearest BLACK card. If these directions are followed correctly and carefully the audience member will always end up on the MIDDLE CARD ON THE BOTTOM ROW.

Layout of cards

Directions.
1) Pick a BLACK card
2) Move UP or Down to the nearest RED card
3) Move LEFT or RIGHT to the nearest BLACK card
4) Move DIAGONALLY to the nearest RED card
5) Move UP or DOWN to the nearest BLACK card.

You have ended up on the MIDDLE card on the bottom row.

Free Magic Trick - Spelling the cards

This Free Magic trick is a clever self working trick however it will still baffle your audience.

The effect of this Free magic Trick is as follows: You shuffle the deck and takes the top thirteen cards. You hold the cards face down, and proceed to spell the first card name, Ace. "A-C-E," and for each letter,put one card under the packet of thirteen cards. You then flip over the next card (the fourth,) and it is an Ace. You repeat the process for each card number, Ace through King. At the end, you have all thirteen cards face up on the table, in sequential order.

To prepare for this Free Magic Trick:Take out 13 cards from a deck, the cards do not have to be the same suit, but they do need to be thirteen cards from Ace to King. After you have these thirteen cards out,place them in the following order, begin by placing the three face-up on the table. On top of that, place the eight. Then, place the Seven, Ace, Queen, Six, Four, Two, Jack, King, Ten, Nine, and last of all Five. And then put these on top of the deck face down.

To perform this Free Magic Trick:The trick almost works itself. To start, pretend to shuffle the cards, leaving the top thirteen untouched. You can do some false shuffles, or you can do real shuffles but you must keep the top 13 cards on top. After you shuffle, you can fan through the deck, and show every card, for the pre-arranged 13 cards don't look like they are arranged at all. Remove the top thirteen cards as a group and arrange them like a fan, so that your audience can see their faces. Square up the cards, and hold them face down. Now it's time to start the spelling. When you spell out each card, do it in the following manner: let's say you're spelling the word ACE. Spell A, remove the top card and place it on the bottom. Then spell C, and remove the top card and place that on the bottom. Next spell E, remove this top card and place it on the bottom. Flip the new top card and show that it's an Ace, and place it on the table. Continue in this manner until all the cards are face up on the table. ( You spell the cards in order: Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K).

A tip for the Free magic Trick is don't use cards all of the same suit. A mixed group of suits makes it seem less like the cards have been pre arranged.

This easy to do free magic trick is called Light A Used Match.

The effect of this magic trick is:

You take out a box of matches and go to light one of them but when you open the box they are all used.

You then proceed to take out the used match and strike it and it lights. You can have them already stashed in the dirty ashtray and take one out and then light the match.

The secret of this free magic trick is:

All you have to do to make a match look like it has been used is dip the match in black ink, and then wait for it to dry. Then dip it in ash and it will look like a used match but when you strike it the match will light like any normal match.

This is an easy to do FREE Magic Trick.The perfomer asks a spectator to tell him how to mix up a packet of cards, following the performer's instructions.No matter how much they're mixed up, they end up in the same order as at the beginning of the trick.

Before you start theis FREE MAGIC TRICK:

Take a full suit of 13 (any one) and lay them down on the table, face up, in numerical order.

Tell a spectator to note the order of the cards. Square them up and hold them face down in your left hand.

Here's the secret of this FREE Magic Trick:

Having first shown the spectator the suit of cards in numerical order you then take back into your hand, keeping them face down ....

You say: "You must tell me exactly how to deal these cards so we can be sure they're thoroughly mixed" Explain that the instructions you need from them are: "DOWN" and "UNDER".
When they say "DOWN" you'll put one card on the table (face down) and when they "UNDER" you'll take the next card from the pile, put it under the first one (on the pile) and then deal both of them together on the table (again face down).

You then follow their instructions and deal the cards exactly as they say into a pile on the table.

You square up the pile and then suggest that to be sure the cards are really well mixed, you do it once more.

Once again you follow their instructions and deal the cards as they say into a pile.
Then ...when you pick up the pile and turn them face up and spread them out in a line all 13 of them will be in the same numerical order as at the beginning of the trick!

In the Vedic system we use the natural properties of numbers.

The number 9 has the property that it is 1 below 10. So every 10 contains one 9 and one remainder.

Therefore, in 40, there will be 4 nines and 4 remainder. and so in 43 there must be 4 nines and 7 remainder.

This can be developed in many ways. For example to divide 123 by 9 the answer is 13 remainder 6.

The first figure of the answer (1 in the 13) is the first figure of 123.
The second figure of the answer (3 in the 13) is 1+2 (add the first two figures of 123).
The remainder is 6 is 1+2+3 (add all three figures of 123).

Tips for performing card magic tricks

Here are some simple tips to performing card tricks with some hints and good advice. Card tricks should be fun, and have a magical look to them. Every card magician is presumed to be an expert with a deck of cards so practise is required to reach this standard.

As a magician you should always be considerate of your audience,do not force magic onto them. The attention span of most people should be respected and don't forget to make your magic and humour age appropriate. Kids don´t generally want card tricks unless they're very easy to understand and clearly performed.

Don't presume that your audience just loves to see more and more. Gauge their interest. When speaking to your audience, enunciate clearly. Don´t mumble or speak softly. Also, don't drone on or be pedantic; be clear in speech, mannerism, movements and especially in your instructions.

Keep your audience in suspense, never let them know what to expect. Unless it is absolutely necessary for a specific effect, never warn the spectator what to expect *i.e. "I shall now make this card disappear" you'll sound like a caricature of a bad magician.

Surprise is of the essence of any magic trick.

Magic is meant to entertaining, not self-serving. If you claim to have incredible abilities, then people will be in awe (falsely) of you, rather than of the effect that you do. After all, which would you rather have people respect you for, fake abilities that you obviously don't have, or the incredible dexterity and skills at which you've laboured for from many hours or practice?

Leave as little as possible to chance. You should practice each card trick many times so they work every time, smoothly, and effectively. Do not only practice the trick itself, you should talk aloud and practice your whole routine to make sure the trick sounds good as well as looks good. It's a good idea to pick one trick and work on it until you're happy you know it back-to front. After that move on to another magic trick.

PREPARATION is vital to your act. You'll need to prepare in order to get your act "properly executed" (lower the risk of error.) Everyone knows that there's nothing worse than messing up in front of your audience. A checklist can make this nightmare of preparation something you can cope with. Once you know you´ve prepared properly, you can then concentrate solely on your performance; it lets your mind be a little more relaxed, knowing everything is in order.
These are just some bried tips for improving your performance of your magic tricks.
